Protected Species Surveys
Protected species surveys, also referred to as Phase 2 surveys, are used to determine the presence of fauna and flora protected under UK and European legislation which may be impacted by any development.
Our Surveys
All our surveys are undertaken using standard guidance or publications provided by the relevant authority. Species which can be surveyed are:
- badger,
- bat,
- birds,
- great crested newt,
- otter,
- pine marten,
- red squirrel,
- reptiles, and
- water vole.

Licensing
Depending on the results of these surveys Developers may require licences from the Regulator prior to the commencement of any construction. Practecology has significant experience in writing licence applications and uses this to discuss potential options with the Client so as to avoid delays and ensure that any Conditions set out in a licence can be achieved.
