Backmill Bat Survey

Practecology was commissioned to undertake bat surveys at a minor road bridge over the Garry Burn in Perthshire immediately prior to the completion of repair works to the spandrel wall.

Historic bat presence and work completed

Previous surveys indicated the presence of a small soprano pipistrelle roost located in a small crack in the bridge.

Following the completion of the bat survey to confirm that bats were absent, repair works were carried out under the supervision of an experienced licensed bat worker. The bat worker also advised site staff on where to erect bat boxes as part of a mitigation strategy to compensate for the loss of the roost. All works for the project were completed under an SNH development licence.
